Glow-in-the-Dark Cotton Candy Cookies

Posted on July 1, 2025

Here’s a fun and whimsical Glow-in-the-Dark Cotton Candy Cookies recipe—perfect for parties, Halloween, or just to impress your friends! These cookies glow under blacklight thanks to a secret ingredient: tonic water (which contains quinine, a natural UV-reactive substance). The cotton candy flavor and pastel glow make them magical.

🌟 Glow-in-the-Dark Cotton Candy Cookies

🔮 Ingredients:

For the Cookies:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp cotton candy flavoring (LorAnn or similar)

  • Optional: a few tablespoons of tonic water (for glow effect)

For the Glowing Icing:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 2–3 tbsp tonic water (start with 2 tbsp)

  • Cotton candy flavoring (a few drops, optional)

  • Neon food coloring (pink, blue, purple — glows brighter under blacklight)

🧁 Instructions:

1. Make the Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In another large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla, and cotton candy flavoring.

  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until fully combined.

  6. If using tonic water, add 1–2 tbsp here to enhance UV glow (optional — may slightly affect texture).

  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized balls onto baking sheet. Flatten slightly.

  8. Bake 9–11 minutes until edges are just golden. Cool completely.

2. Make the Glowing Icing

  1. Mix powdered sugar with tonic water until smooth and spreadable. Adjust thickness with more sugar or tonic.

  2. Add a few drops of cotton candy flavoring (optional).

  3. Separate into bowls and tint with neon food coloring.

  4. Spread or pipe onto cooled cookies. Let dry.

💡 Tips for Maximum Glow:

  • These cookies glow best under UV blacklight.

  • Neon food coloring glows brightest (especially yellow, green, and blue).

  • Tonic water gives a soft glow due to quinine—don’t overdo it in the dough or icing to avoid bitterness.

  • For extra flair, top with edible glitter or mini cotton candy bits right before serving.
