Posted on June 30, 2025

Here’s a classic glazed ham recipe that’s perfect for holidays or special dinners. It’s sweet, savory, and has a beautiful caramelized finish.

πŸ– Classic Glazed Ham Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (about 7–10 lbs)

  • Whole cloves (optional, for studding)

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup honey

  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard

  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar or orange juice

  • 2 tbsp whole-grain mustard (optional, for texture)

  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

  • 2 tbsp butter (for richness)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:

    • Set oven to 325Β°F (163Β°C).

  2. Prepare the Ham:

    • Score the fat in a diamond pattern with a sharp knife.

    • Optional: Stud with whole cloves at the intersections of the cuts for extra flavor and presentation.

  3. Bake the Ham (First Phase):

    • Place ham in a roasting pan, cut-side down.

    • Cover loosely with foil and bake for about 15 minutes per pound (e.g., a 10 lb ham = ~2.5 hours total).

    • While it’s baking, prepare the glaze.

  4. Make the Glaze:

    • In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, honey, Dijon, apple cider vinegar (or orange juice), mustards, cinnamon, cloves, and butter.

    • Heat over medium, stirring until smooth and slightly thickened (5–7 minutes).

  5. Glaze and Bake (Final 30–40 mins):

    • About 30–40 minutes before ham is done, remove foil.

    • Brush glaze generously over the ham.

    • Return to oven uncovered and continue baking, brushing with more glaze every 10–15 minutes, until caramelized.

  6. Rest and Serve:

    • Let the ham rest 15–20 minutes before carving.

πŸ”ͺ Tips:

  • Leftovers: Great in sandwiches, soups, or fried rice.

  • Glaze Variations: Swap honey with maple syrup, or add a splash of bourbon or pineapple juice for a twist.
