Pizza Dough

Here’s a classic pizza dough recipe for you—simple and delicious!


Classic Pizza Dough

Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • 2 ¼ teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • 2 teaspoons salt

  • 1 ½ cups (360ml) warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil


Instructions:

  1. Activate yeast:
    In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Mix dry ingredients:
    In a large bowl, whisk together flour and salt.

  3. Combine:
    Pour yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture. Stir with a wooden spoon or your hands until a rough dough forms.

  4. Knead:
    Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add flour little by little if it’s sticky.

  5. First rise:
    Lightly oil a clean bowl, place dough inside, and cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

  6. Shape:
    Punch down dough and divide it into 2 balls for medium pizzas (or keep whole for one large pizza). Let rest for 10 minutes before rolling out.

  7. Top and bake:
    Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. Add your favorite toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes or until crust is golden and crispy.
