Here’s a delicious Deep Fried Pecan Pies recipe that gives you that classic Southern fair-style treat—crispy, golden crust with a gooey, nutty pecan filling inside.


🥧 Deep Fried Pecan Pies Recipe

Ingredients:

For the filling:

  • 1 cup chopped pecans

  • ½ cup light brown sugar (packed)

  • ¼ cup corn syrup (light or dark)

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter

  • 1 large egg

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Pinch of salt

For the dough:

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade if you prefer), thawed

    • Or use biscuit dough or empanada dough for a different texture.

For frying:

  • Vegetable oil, for deep frying

Optional:

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

  • Caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream for serving


Instructions:

  1. Make the Filling:

    • In a bowl, combine the pecans, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, and salt.

    • Stir well until completely mixed. Set aside.

  2. Prepare the Dough:

    • Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface.

    • Use a 4 to 5-inch round cutter (or a bowl) to cut circles from the dough.

  3. Assemble the Pies:

    • Place about 1 to 1½ tablespoons of pecan filling in the center of each dough circle.

    • Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape.

    • Press the edges together with a fork to seal tightly.

  4. Heat the Oil:

    • In a deep fryer or heavy pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C).

    • Make sure there’s enough oil to submerge the pies.

  5. Fry the Pies:

    • Fry 2–3 pies at a time for about 2–3 minutes per side or until golden brown.

    • Use a slotted spoon to remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. Serve:

    • Let cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar.

    • Serve warm with caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.


🔥 Tips:

  • Don’t overfill the pies—pecan filling expands when hot.

  • For added depth, toast the pecans before using them.

  • These freeze well before frying! Just assemble, freeze on a tray, then store in a freezer bag.
