Here’s a classic, cozy recipe for Grandma’s Fluffy Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins — soft, tender muffins that taste just like old-fashioned donuts, coated in buttery cinnamon sugar. Perfect with a cup of coffee or milk!


🍩 Grandma’s Fluffy Cinnamon Sugar Donut Muffins

🧁 Ingredients:

For the Muffins:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/2 cup milk (whole milk preferred)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (optional but gives a classic donut flavor)

For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:

  • 1/4 cup (half stick) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon


🧁 Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease or line a 12-cup muffin tin.

  2. Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the egg, beating well. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.

  5. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Don’t overmix.

  6. Scoop the batter into the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.

  7. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the tops are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Cool the muffins in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

  9. Dip each muffin top in melted butter, then roll or sprinkle in the cinnamon sugar mixture.


📝 Tips:

  • For mini muffins, reduce baking time to about 10–12 minutes.

  • These are best eaten fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.

  • Want to freeze? Skip the cinnamon sugar topping, freeze, and dip after reheating.
