Dinner Rolls

Here’s a classic Dinner Rolls recipe that’s soft, fluffy, and perfect for any meal:


🍞 Soft Dinner Rolls Recipe (Makes ~12 rolls)

Ingredients:

  • 3 ¾ cups (470g) all-purpose flour (plus extra if needed)

  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast

  • ¼ cup (50g) granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (110°F/43°C)

  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

Optional for topping:

  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing after baking)


🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Activate the yeast:

    • In a small bowl, mix warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle in the yeast and let sit for 5–10 minutes, until foamy.

  2. Make the dough:

    • In a large bowl (or stand mixer), combine flour and salt.

    • Add yeast mixture, egg, and melted butter. Mix until dough forms.

  3. Knead:

    • Knead by hand for 8–10 minutes or with a mixer for 5–6 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

    • If sticky, add a little more flour (1 tbsp at a time).

  4. First rise:

    • Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a damp towel or plastic wrap.

    • Let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

  5. Shape rolls:

    • Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces.

    • Shape into balls and place in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.

  6. Second rise:

    • Cover and let rise for another 30–45 minutes, until puffy.

  7. Bake:

    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

    • Bake rolls for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown on top.

  8. Finish:

    • Brush warm rolls with melted butter. Serve warm!


📝 Tips:

  • For even softer rolls, replace half of the all-purpose flour with bread flour.

  • Want a sweeter roll? Add an extra tablespoon of sugar.

  • Rolls freeze well! Cool completely and store in a freezer bag for up to 2 months.
