Strawberry Honeybun Cake

🍓 Strawberry Honeybun Cake Recipe

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • ¾ cup vegetable oil

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

  • ¾ cup strawberry jam or preserves

For the Glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar

  • 3–4 tbsp milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

  2. Make the batter:
    In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, sour cream, and oil. Mix until smooth (about 2 minutes on medium speed).

  3. Mix cinnamon swirl:
    In a small bowl, stir together the brown sugar and cinnamon.

  4. Assemble the cake:

    • Pour half the batter into the prepared pan.

    • Spoon dollops of strawberry jam evenly over the batter and gently swirl with a knife.

    • Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over this layer.

    • Pour the remaining batter on top and spread evenly.

  5. Bake:
    Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. Make the glaze:
    While the cake is baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  7. Glaze the cake:
    Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes, then pour the glaze over the warm cake. Allow it to soak in slightly.

  8. Cool and serve:
    Let it cool completely before slicing for neat pieces—or serve warm for a gooey treat.


🍰 Optional Add-Ons:

  • Add sliced fresh strawberries on top after glazing.

  • Fold in chopped pecans or walnuts with the cinnamon swirl for a nutty crunch.

  • Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
