🍌 Classic Moist Banana Bread Recipe

📋 Ingredients:

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional, but recommended)

Wet Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled (or vegetable oil for dairy-free)

  • ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar (or white sugar, or a mix)

  • 2 large eggs, room temperature

  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • 3–4 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1½ cups or 350g)

  • ¼ cup (60ml) milk or buttermilk (optional, for extra moisture)

Optional Add-ins:

  • ½–1 cup chopped walnuts, pecans, or chocolate chips

  • 1 tbsp sour cream or yogurt (extra moisture and tang)

🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prepare Equipment

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together:

    • Flour

    • Baking soda

    • Salt

    • Cinnamon (if using)

  • Set aside.

3. Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together:

    • Melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.

    • Add eggs and vanilla, whisk well.

    • Mix in mashed bananas and milk (or buttermilk/yogurt, if using).

4. Combine Wet and Dry

  • Gently fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients using a spatula.

  • Stir just until combined — do not overmix (a few lumps are okay).

5. Add Extras

  • Fold in nuts, chocolate chips, or other add-ins.

6. Bake

  • Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.

  • Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

  • If browning too quickly on top, tent with foil halfway through baking.

7. Cool

  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10–15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

🔁 Storage Tips:

  • Room Temp: Wrap in foil or airtight container; lasts 3–4 days.

  • Fridge: Up to 1 week, tightly sealed.

  • Freezer: Slice and wrap individually; freeze up to 3 months. Thaw at room temp or microwave.

📝 Variations:

  • Banana Nut Bread: Add ¾ cup chopped walnuts.

  • Chocolate Banana Bread: Stir in ½ cup cocoa powder + 1 cup chocolate chips.

  • Healthy Version: Use whole wheat flour, maple syrup instead of sugar, and Greek yogurt instead of butter.
