Here’s a savory puff pastry with minced meat and cheese recipe that’s flavorful, easy to make, and perfect for appetizers, snacks, or even a light meal.


🥐 Savory Puff Pastry with Minced Meat & Cheese

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 300g (10 oz) ground beef or lamb

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 tsp paprika (smoked or sweet)

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley or cilantro (optional)

  • 100g (1 cup) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or feta)

For the Pastry:

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)


Instructions:

1. Prepare the Filling:

  • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.

  • Add chopped onion and cook until soft (about 3–4 minutes).

  • Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.

  • Add ground meat and cook until browned and no longer pink. Break it apart as it cooks.

  • Stir in cumin, paprika, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.

  • Remove from heat, mix in chopped herbs and cheese. Let cool slightly.

2. Assemble the Pastry:

  • Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).

  • Roll out the puff pastry slightly if needed.

  • Cut into squares (about 4–5 inches).

  • Place a spoonful of the meat-cheese mixture in the center of each square.

  • Fold over into triangles or rectangles. Seal edges with a fork.

  • Brush the tops with beaten egg for golden color.

3. Bake:

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  • Place pastries on the tray and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden and puffed.


🧀 Variations & Tips:

  • Use feta and spinach for a Mediterranean twist.

  • Add a spoon of tomato paste or Worcestershire sauce to the meat for richer flavor.

  • Can be frozen before baking — just add 5 extra minutes to the bake time from frozen.
