Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Twists

Here’s a fun and easy recipe for Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Twists that blends the chewy texture of cookie dough with a delicious, twisty presentation! 🍪🥨

Ingredients:

  • For the Cookie Dough:

    • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

    • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

    • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    • 2 tablespoons milk

    • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips

  • For the Twists:

    • 1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry (or you can make your own)

    • 1 egg (for egg wash)

    • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for sprinkling)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Cookie Dough:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).

  • Add in the vanilla extract and milk, mixing until well combined.

  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  • Stir in the mini chocolate chips. The dough should be slightly thick but pliable.

2. Prepare the Puff Pastry:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. If it’s too thick, you can roll it out a little thinner.

  • Cut the pastry into strips about 1 inch wide.

3. Assemble the Twists:

  • Take a small spoonful of the cookie dough and place it at the edge of each puff pastry strip. You want a thin line of dough running along the center of the strip.

  • Fold the pastry over the dough to create a little “pocket” with the cookie dough inside.

  • Twist the strips to form a spiral or twist shape.

  • Place the twists on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

4. Egg Wash:

  • Beat the egg and brush it lightly over the tops of the pastry twists.

  • Optionally, sprinkle a little sugar on top for a sweet, golden finish.

5. Bake:

  • Bake the twists in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed up.

  • Remove from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes before serving.

6. Serve:

  • These chocolate chip cookie dough twists are best enjoyed warm. They’ll have the delicious flavor of cookie dough, but with the crispy, buttery layers of puff pastry!
