Here’s a delicious homemade Bacon Cheeseburger Sub recipe that’s hearty, melty, and packed with flavor—perfect for lunch, dinner, or game day.

🍔 Homemade Bacon Cheeseburger Sub

📝 Ingredients (Makes 2 Large Subs)

For the Meat:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 for juiciness)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Other Fillings:

  • 4–6 slices of bacon, cooked crispy

  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or American cheese)

  • ½ cup caramelized or sautéed onions (optional)

  • Dill pickle slices (optional)

  • Lettuce and tomato (optional for a fresh bite)

Bread & Toppings:

  • 2 large sub rolls or hoagie rolls

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard (or use burger sauce)

  • Butter for toasting rolls

🔪 Instructions

1. Cook the Bacon

  • Fry or bake the bacon until crispy.

  • Drain on paper towels and set aside.

2. Prepare the Burger Filling

  • In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.

  • Shape into 2 oblong patties (to fit sub rolls), or cook loose like a cheesesteak.

  • Cook in a skillet over medium-high heat for ~4–5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.

3. Melt the Cheese

  • In the last minute of cooking, place cheese slices over the meat and cover the pan to melt.

4. Toast the Rolls

  • Split the sub rolls lengthwise (but not all the way through).

  • Butter the insides and toast on a skillet or under a broiler until golden.

5. Assemble the Subs

  • Spread mayo, ketchup, and mustard on the toasted rolls.

  • Add the cheesy beef.

  • Layer with bacon, onions, pickles, lettuce, and tomato as desired.

6. Serve

  • Slice in half, serve hot with fries, chips, or a side salad.

🍽️ Tips

  • For extra flavor: Use burger sauce instead of plain condiments (mayo + ketchup + mustard + pickle juice).

  • Make it spicy: Add jalapeños or pepper jack cheese.

  • Make it gourmet: Use brioche sub rolls and smoked bacon.
