1 tsp salt
-
1 tbsp sugar
-
300ml warm water
-
2 tbsp olive oil
-
Extra flour for dusting
For the Baked Camembert:
-
1 whole Camembert cheese (in a wooden box, about 250g)
-
1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
-
1-2 sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme
-
Drizzle of olive oil
-
Optional: honey, cracked black pepper, or chili flakes for serving
-
Crusty bread or your love heart bread for dipping
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Love Heart Bread Dough
-
In a large bowl, mix the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
-
Gradually add the warm water and olive oil while mixing to form a soft dough.
-
Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or cling film, and leave to rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Shape the Love Hearts
-
After the dough has risen, punch it down gently to release air.
-
Divide the dough into small equal portions (around 8-10 pieces).
-
Roll each piece into a ball and then shape it into a heart by pinching one side to form the point and rounding the other side.
-
Place the hearts on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving space between each.
-
Cover again and let them prove for 30 minutes.
Step 3: Bake the Love Heart Bread
-
Preheat the oven to 220°C (430°F).
-
Optional: brush the hearts lightly with olive oil or beaten egg for a shiny finish.
-
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Remove and cool slightly on a wire rack.
Step 4: Prepare & Bake the Camembert
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
-
Remove the Camembert from the box and place it back into the wooden box (after removing any paper) or place it in a small ovenproof dish.
-
Score the top of the cheese with a sharp knife in a criss-cross pattern.
-
Insert slices of garlic and sprigs of rosemary/thyme into the cuts.
-
Drizzle a little olive oil on top.
-
Bake for 15-20 minutes until gooey and melted.
Step 5: Serve
-
Serve the warm baked Camembert with your freshly baked love heart bread.
-
Optionally drizzle with honey or sprinkle with cracked black pepper or chili flakes.
-
Tear the bread hearts and dip into the melted cheese.
