Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoe

Here’s a classic Ground Beef and Gravy Over Mashed Potatoes recipe for you! Comfort food at its best. 🥔🍖


Ingredients:

For the Mashed Potatoes:

  • 4 large potatoes (Russet or Yukon Gold), peeled and cut into chunks

  • 1/2 cup milk (adjust for desired creaminess)

  • 3 tbsp butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Ground Beef and Gravy:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups beef broth (or stock)

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional but tasty)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 tbsp oil or butter


Instructions:

1. Make the Mashed Potatoes:

  1. Place the peeled and chopped potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold water, add a pinch of salt.

  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until potatoes are tender (about 15-20 minutes).

  3. Drain potatoes and return them to the pot.

  4. Add butter and milk, mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper. Cover and keep warm.

2. Prepare the Ground Beef and Gravy:

  1. Heat oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add chopped onions and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

  4. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned and no longer pink.

  5. Sprinkle the flour over the beef and stir well to combine, cooking for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.

  6. Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring constantly to prevent lumps.

  7. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.

3. Serve:

  • Spoon the mashed potatoes onto plates and top with a generous helping of ground beef gravy.

  • Optional: garnish with chopped parsley or green onions.
