Ooey Gooey Bars

Posted on June 1, 2025

Here’s a classic Ooey Gooey Bars recipe — rich, buttery, and super gooey, with a perfect balance of sweetness and a hint of vanilla. Perfect for a cozy treat!

Ooey Gooey Bars

Ingredients:

Crust:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping:

  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate)

  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional, like pecans or walnuts)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang to lift bars out easily.

  2. Make the crust:
In a medium bowl, mix melted butter, granulated sugar, flour, and salt until combined. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.

  3. Bake crust for about 15 minutes until lightly golden.

  4. Prepare the filling:
In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix well.

  5. Assemble:
Pour the cream cheese mixture over the warm crust. Sprinkle the mini chocolate chips and nuts evenly on top.

  6. Bake for another 25-30 minutes until the filling is set and slightly golden around the edges. The center will still be gooey.

  7. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before slicing into bars.
