Amazing Forgotten Chicken

Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for Amazing Forgotten Chicken, a classic comfort dish known for being low-effort and full of flavor. The name comes from the idea that you “forget” about it in the oven while it cooks slowly to perfection.


🍗 Amazing Forgotten Chicken Recipe

Servings: 4–6
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 2–3 hours
Total Time: ~3 hours


🧂 Ingredients:

  • 4–6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • 1 cup uncooked long grain white rice (do not use instant rice)

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of celery soup (optional but adds flavor)

  • 1 1/2 cups water or chicken broth

  • 1 envelope dry onion soup mix (like Lipton)

  • Optional: Salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika to taste


🥣 Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

  2. Spray a 9×13″ baking dish with cooking spray or lightly grease it.

  3. Spread the uncooked rice evenly on the bottom of the dish.

  4. Place chicken breasts on top of the rice.

  5. In a bowl, mix together the soups and water/broth until well combined.

  6. Pour the soup mixture evenly over the chicken and rice.

  7. Sprinkle the dry onion soup mix over the top.

  8. Cover tightly with aluminum foil.

  9. Bake at 275°F for 2.5 to 3 hours. Do not peek or stir during baking—just set it and forget it!


🍽️ Tips:

  • Add sliced mushrooms, onions, or frozen peas/carrots for extra flavor and nutrition.

  • Use chicken thighs instead of breasts if you prefer juicier meat.

  • Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow it to thicken.
