Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of French bread (split in half lengthwise)

  • 1–1½ cups pizza sauce (jarred or homemade)

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Toppings of choice (e.g., pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, olives)

  • Olive oil or melted butter (optional)

  • Garlic powder and Italian seasoning (optional)


Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Set your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. Prep the Bread:

    • Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Then, cut into portions if desired.

    • Optional: Lightly brush the cut sides with olive oil or melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder for extra flavor.

  3. Toast the Bread (optional but recommended):

    • Place bread halves on a baking sheet, cut side up, and bake for 3–5 minutes until slightly crisp. This prevents sogginess.

  4. Assemble the Pizza:

    • Spread a layer of pizza sauce on each bread half.

    • Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

    • Add your favorite toppings.

  5. Bake:

    • Return to the oven and bake for 8–10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and edges are golden brown.

  6. Finish & Serve:

    • Sprinkle with Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, or fresh basil if desired.

    • Slice and serve immediately.
