Cheesy garlic bread

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of French bread or Italian bread

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)

  • 4-5 cloves garlic (minced)

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped, optional)

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare the bread: Slice the loaf of bread in half horizontally, then place the halves on a baking sheet with the cut sides facing up.

  3. Make the garlic butter: In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, salt, and garlic powder (if using). Spread this garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of both halves of the bread.

  4. Add the cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan evenly over the buttered bread.

  5. Bake: Place the bread in the oven and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the bread is golden and slightly crispy around the edges.

  6. Optional finishing touch: For a more golden top, you can broil it for an additional 1-2 minutes at the end. Just keep an eye on it so it doesn’t burn.

  7. Garnish: Sprinkle chopped parsley on top for a fresh pop of color and flavor.

  8. Serve: Slice it up and serve warm!
