Garlic Butter Chicken Foil Packets recipe — perfect for grilling, baking, or even a campfire cookout!


🧄 Garlic Butter Chicken Foil Packets

📝 Ingredients:

For the Chicken Packets:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)

  • 2 cups baby potatoes, halved or quartered

  • 2 cups fresh green beans (or broccoli, asparagus, or bell peppers)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional for a tangy twist)

  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional for heat)


🍳 Instructions:

1. Preheat & Prep:

  • Oven: Preheat to 400°F (200°C).

  • Grill: Preheat to medium-high heat.

  • Cut 4 large sheets of aluminum foil (about 12–14 inches each).

2. Make the Garlic Butter:

In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.

3. Assemble Foil Packets:

On each piece of foil:

  • Drizzle a little olive oil.

  • Place chicken breast in the center, season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.

  • Add potatoes and green beans around the chicken.

  • Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of garlic butter over everything.

4. Seal the Foil Packets:

Fold the sides of the foil up over the contents and seal tightly to make a packet. Leave a little room inside for steam circulation.

5. Cook:

  • Oven: Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through (internal temp 165°F / 74°C) and potatoes are tender.

  • Grill: Grill for 20–25 minutes over medium heat, turning once halfway through.

  • Campfire: Place on hot coals and cook for about 20 minutes, turning occasionally.

6. Serve:

Carefully open foil packets (watch for steam!) and garnish with extra parsley or a squeeze of lemon if desired.

  • Cherry tomatoes

  • Mushrooms

  • Corn kernels

  • Parmesan cheese (sprinkle before serving)
