Bacon Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese

here’s a  recipe for a Bacon Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese—a perfect mashup of two all-time favorites! This sandwich is loaded with juicy cheeseburger flavors and melty grilled cheese goodness, plus crispy bacon for that extra punch.


Bacon Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or your favorite sandwich bread)

  • 2 slices of cheddar cheese (or American cheese if you prefer)

  • 2-3 strips of bacon

  • 1/4 lb ground beef (80/20 blend works great for juiciness)

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1/4 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

  • 1 small tomato, sliced (optional)

  • Pickles (optional)

  • 1 tablespoon butter (for grilling)

  • 1 teaspoon ketchup (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon mustard (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon mayonnaise (optional)


Instructions:

1. Cook the bacon:

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add bacon strips and cook until crispy (about 4-6 minutes), flipping as needed.

  • Remove bacon and place on paper towels to drain excess grease.

2. Prepare the burger patty:

  • In the same skillet, add the finely chopped onions if using and sauté for 1-2 minutes until translucent.

  • Form the ground beef into a small patty, season with salt and pepper.

  • Cook the patty in the skillet over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes per side or until it reaches your desired doneness.

  • Once cooked, place a slice of cheese on the patty to melt slightly.

3. Assemble the sandwich:

  • Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. The buttered sides will be the outside of the sandwich.

  • On the unbuttered side of one bread slice, spread a little ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise if you like.

  • Add the cooked cheeseburger patty on top.

  • Layer the crispy bacon strips over the patty.

  • Add tomato slices and pickles if desired.

  • Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.

4. Grill the sandwich:

  • Heat a clean skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  • Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, pressing down gently with a spatula until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese inside is melted.

5. Serve:

  • Remove from skillet and let it rest for a minute or two (to avoid burning your mouth!).

  • Slice in half and serve immediately.


Tips:

  • Use thick-cut bacon for more crunch.

  • If you want it extra cheesy, add an extra slice of cheese inside.

  • For a bit of heat, add some sliced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.

  • Try a garlic butter spread on the bread for extra flavor.
