Here’s a  recipe for Honey Butter Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread — a rich, moist bread with the sweetness of honey and butter, loaded with toasted pecans, inspired by Southern flavors. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert!

Honey Butter Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread

Ingredients:

For the bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional, but adds nice warmth)

  • 3 large eggs

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup honey (preferably wildflower or clover honey)

  • 1 cup buttermilk (or whole milk with 1 tbsp lemon juice, let sit 5 minutes)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups pecans, chopped and toasted

For the honey butter glaze:

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

  • 3 tbsp honey

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven & Prep Pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. Toast Pecans
Spread the chopped pecans on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5–7 minutes, stirring halfway, until fragrant and lightly browned. Set aside to cool.

  3. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.

  4. Whisk Wet Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk eggs, melted butter, sugar, honey, buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth and well combined.

  5. Combine Wet & Dry
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients with a spatula until just combined—don’t overmix or the bread may become tough.

  6. Add Pecans
Fold in the toasted pecans gently.

  7. Bake
Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, tent it loosely with foil after 40 minutes.

  8. Cool
Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then remove and cool completely on a wire rack.

Honey Butter Glaze:

  1. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, honey, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until creamy.

  2. When the bread is slightly warm (not hot), spread the honey butter glaze generously over the top.

  3. Slice and enjoy!

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, add a handful of mini chocolate chips or a sprinkle of brown sugar on top before baking.

  • Store bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.

  • Serve with coffee or tea for a delightful Southern-style treat.
