Teriyaki Beef and Avocado Rice Stack

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cooked jasmine or sushi rice (warm)

  • 200g (7 oz) thinly sliced beef (like sirloin or ribeye)

  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced

  • 3 tbsp teriyaki sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp grated ginger

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 green onion, finely sliced (for garnish)

  • Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

  • Optional: pickled ginger or sliced cucumber for freshness

Instructions:

  1. Marinate and cook the beef:

    • In a bowl, mix the beef slices with teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and garlic. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

    • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and quickly stir-fry the beef until cooked but still tender (about 2-3 minutes). Set aside.

  2. Prepare the rice stack:

    • Using a ring mold or small bowl, layer the rice first into the mold, pressing down gently to compact.

    • Add a layer of the cooked teriyaki beef.

    • Next, add a layer of avocado slices.

    • Repeat the layers if you want a taller stack, or just keep it simple with one layer each.

  3. Garnish and serve:

    • Carefully remove the mold.

    • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

    • Add optional pickled ginger or cucumber on the side for a refreshing crunch.
