Peach ice cream dessert

Posted on September 1, 2025

Here’s a peach ice cream dessert recipe — rich, creamy, and bursting with fresh peach flavor. It includes a custard-based ice cream and a simple way to serve it as a beautiful dessert.

🍑 Homemade Peach Ice Cream Dessert

🕐 Prep Time:

  • Ice cream base: 30 minutes

  • Chill time: 4+ hours

  • Churn & freeze: 2–4 hours

  • Dessert assembly: 10 minutes

✨ Ingredients

For the Peach Ice Cream (Custard Base):

  • 2 cups ripe peaches (peeled, pitted, and chopped)

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar (divided: ½ cup + ¼ cup)

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 2 cups heavy cream

  • 5 large egg yolks

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp lemon juice (optional, to brighten peach flavor)

  • Pinch of salt

For Serving (Optional Garnishes):

  • Crushed butter cookies or shortbread

  • Whipped cream

  • Fresh peach slices

  • Mint leaves

  • Caramel sauce or peach compote

🍨 Step-by-Step Instructions

🍑 Step 1: Prepare the Peaches

  1. Peel and chop the peaches. Use ripe, fragrant peaches.

  2. Place them in a bowl with ¼ cup sugar and lemon juice. Let sit for 15–20 minutes.

  3. Puree in a blender or food processor until mostly smooth (leave some chunks if you prefer texture). Set aside.

🍳 Step 2: Make the Custard Base

  1. In a saucepan, combine:

    • 1 cup whole milk

    • 1 cup heavy cream

    • ½ cup sugar

    • Pinch of salt

  2. Heat over medium, stirring until hot (not boiling). Set aside.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the 5 egg yolks until smooth.

  4. Temper the yolks:

    • Slowly pour a ladle of hot milk into the yolks while whisking constantly.

    • Add another ladle slowly, then pour the tempered yolks into the saucepan.

  5. Return saucepan to medium heat.

  6. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or spatula until it thickens (170–175°F or coats the back of a spoon).

  7. Remove from heat. Strain through a fine sieve into a bowl to remove any curdled bits.

❄️ Step 3: Chill the Mixture

  1. Stir in:

    • 1 tsp vanilla extract

    • The reserved peach puree

    • 1 cup heavy cream (the second cup)

  2. Mix well and cover.

  3. Chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours or overnight.

🍦 Step 4: Churn the Ice Cream

  1. Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker.

  2. Churn according to manufacturer’s instructions (typically 20–25 minutes).

  3. It should have a soft-serve consistency.

❄️ Step 5: Freeze Until Firm

  1. Transfer to an airtight container.

  2. Freeze for 2–4 hours or until scoopable.

🍽️ Step 6: Assemble the Dessert

Option 1: Peach Ice Cream Sundaes

  • Scoop peach ice cream into bowls or glasses.

  • Add a swirl of whipped cream, crushed cookies, and fresh peach slices.

  • Drizzle with caramel or peach compote.

  • Garnish with mint leaves.

Option 2: Peach Ice Cream Sandwiches

  • Scoop between two shortbread cookies.

  • Wrap in parchment and freeze for 15 minutes.

  • Serve cold and crisp.

Option 3: Peach Parfait

  • Layer crumbled cookies, ice cream, and whipped cream in a tall glass.

  • Repeat layers and top with fresh peaches.

📝 Tips & Variations

  • No ice cream maker? Pour the chilled mixture into a shallow pan, freeze, and stir every 30 minutes until smooth (about 3 hours).

  • Add-ins: White chocolate chunks, chopped candied ginger, or toasted pecans.

  • Dairy-free option: Substitute coconut cream and almond milk.
