Here’s a  recipe for Mini Puff Pastry Parcels – a versatile, easy-to-make appetizer or snack. You can fill them with sweet or savory ingredients, but this version features a savory filling of cheese and vegetables (with optional meat). You’ll also find tips for variations and a sweet version at the end.


🧀🥬 Mini Puff Pastry Parcels (Savory Version)

📋 Ingredients:

For the pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (approx. 250g), thawed if frozen

  • Flour (for dusting)

For the filling (choose or combine):

  • 1 cup grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

  • ½ cup finely chopped cooked spinach (squeezed dry)

  • ½ cup sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers (optional)

  • ¼ cup cooked shredded chicken or ham (optional)

  • 1 garlic clove (minced)

  • 2 tbsp cream cheese or ricotta (optional for creaminess)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • ½ tsp dried herbs (oregano, thyme, or Italian seasoning)

For assembling:

  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)

  • Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (optional)


🧑‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven

  • Preheat to 200°C (400°F).

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

2. Prepare Filling

  • In a bowl, mix:

    • Cheese

    • Cooked vegetables and/or meat

    • Garlic

    • Herbs

    • Cream cheese (if using)

    • Salt & pepper

  • Stir well to combine.

3. Roll Out Pastry

  • Lightly flour a surface.

  • Roll out puff pastry to smooth the seams (if needed) and make it slightly thinner.

  • Cut into squares (about 3×3 inches or 7-8 cm per side) – you should get 9-12 squares from one sheet.

4. Assemble Parcels

  • Place 1-2 teaspoons of filling in the center of each square.

  • Fold corners inward to form a parcel (you can:

    • Fold all 4 corners to the center (envelope style), or

    • Fold in half to make triangles, and seal edges with a fork).

5. Egg Wash & Topping

  • Brush tops with beaten egg.

  • Sprinkle with seeds if using.

6. Bake

  • Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

7. Cool & Serve

  • Let cool slightly.

  • Serve warm or at room temperature.


🧁 Sweet Version Variation

Filling Ideas:

  • Nutella and banana

  • Apple + cinnamon + brown sugar

  • Sweetened cream cheese + jam

  • Chopped dark chocolate + raspberry

Method: Same steps as above, but skip the garlic/herbs and optionally sprinkle tops with cinnamon sugar after egg wash.


✅ Tips & Variations:

  • Make ahead: Assemble and freeze before baking. Bake from frozen (add ~5 minutes).

  • Make mini versions: Cut pastry into smaller squares (2×2 inches) for bite-size.

  • Dip ideas: Serve savory ones with marinara, sour cream, or chutney. Sweet ones go great with chocolate sauce or whipped cream.
