🍡 DEEP-FRIED MARSHMALLOW BLISS
🔥 Crispy outside. Melty, gooey inside. A bite-sized cloud of happiness.
📝 Ingredients (Makes 12-15 pieces)
For the Marshmallows:
-
Large marshmallows – 12 to 15 pieces
-
Mini chocolate chips or chocolate squares – optional filling
For the Batter:
-
1 cup all-purpose flour
-
2 tablespoons sugar
-
1 teaspoon baking powder
-
1 pinch of salt
-
1 large egg
-
¾ cup milk
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Frying:
-
Vegetable oil (canola or peanut oil preferred) – for deep-frying
Optional for Coating/Topping:
-
Powdered sugar
-
Cinnamon sugar
-
Chocolate or caramel sauce
-
Graham cracker crumbs (for a s’mores vibe)
🍴 Equipment:
-
Deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot
-
Slotted spoon or frying spider
-
Tongs
-
Paper towels
-
Skewers or toothpicks (optional but helpful)
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Prep the Marshmallows
-
(Optional) Stuff each marshmallow with a few mini chocolate chips or a small piece of chocolate by poking a hole in the side and pushing it in.
-
Stick a toothpick or small skewer into each marshmallow for easy dipping and frying. Freeze them for 15–30 minutes — this helps them keep shape when frying.
2. Make the Batter
-
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
In another bowl, mix the egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
-
Combine the wet and dry ingredients to form a smooth batter. It should be thick enough to coat a marshmallow without dripping too much.
3. Heat the Oil
-
Fill your fryer or pot with oil to at least 2 inches deep.
-
Heat to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
4. Dip & Fry
-
Dip each chilled marshmallow in the batter, coating it completely.
-
Carefully place it into the hot oil. Fry in small batches (3–4 at a time).
-
Cook for about 30–60 seconds, turning occasionally, until golden brown and puffed.
5. Drain & Cool
-
Use a slotted spoon to remove the marshmallows.
-
Drain on paper towels. Let cool for a minute — the inside will be molten hot!
6. Top & Serve
-
Dust with powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or drizzle with chocolate/caramel.
-
For a s’mores version, roll them in crushed graham crackers.
💡 Tips & Variations
-
Flavored marshmallows (strawberry, caramel, etc.) add extra dimension.
-
Make mini versions using mini marshmallows on toothpicks.
-
Try adding coconut flakes or crushed nuts to the topping.
🧊 Storage / Reheating
-
Best served immediately.
-
If needed, store leftovers in the fridge and reheat briefly in a toaster oven or air fryer — but expect less crispiness.
